Financial literacy in the era of artificial intelligence. Towards financial inclusion

High inflation, a coronavirus pandemic, climate change, climate policy and political instability are creating unprecedented challenges for household budgets. To meet these challenges, households need strong personal financial management skills. A key component of personal financial management capability is economic and financial education. Analysing the resilience of household budgets and the related importance of economic and financial education have implications for various social, economic and financial stability issues.

The Guest Editors welcome theoretical and empirical contributions on the role of economic and financial education in meeting the challenges of the modern, digital world. The forthcoming issue aims to collect contributions on topics related to financial behavior, fragility and financial education of households. Potential topics may include (but are not limited to):

  • Healthy financial behavior and its relationship to economic and financial education,
  • Financial exclusion and its prevention,
  • The institutional design of financial education,
  • Interactions among effects of financial education and areas such as FinTech, money laundering and fraud detection, microfinance, climate education and ESG, retirement decisions, stock market participation,
  • Individual preferences for budgeting, savings, debt and purchasing decisions,
  • New measurement ideas for financial literacy, financial inclusion and financial well-being,
  • Econometric solutions for financial literacy endogeneity issue,
  • The role of AI in personal finance and financial literacy.

We welcome submissions of empirical and theoretical contributions that analyze the above and related topics.
